The client is a federal executive-branch agency, and it used to approve telework on paper: an employee completed a form, scanned it, and emailed it to a supervisor, and in some cases the form was physically delivered to get a wet signature. i3solutions designed and implemented an automated telework request system that replaced that routing. An employee submits a request through one interface, the workflow routes it to the appropriate supervisor, and once the request is approved the system updates the Out of Office (OOO) status on the calendar so teams can see who is available in real time. The build pairs SharePoint as the central platform for requests, workflow automation, and request data with a .NET back end that handles request processing, workflow approvals, and integrations, plus Office 365 and Outlook for the calendar updates. The agency gets faster approvals without manual handling, real-time visibility into employee availability, and fewer administrative tasks for employees and supervisors.
